Stephen Hawking - My Brief History

Stephen Hawking - My Brief History

Stephen Hawking has dazzled readers worldwide with a string of bestsellers exploring the mysteries of the universe. Now, for the first time, perhaps the most brilliant cosmologist of our age turns his gaze inward for a revealing look at his own life and intellectual evolution.

I received this book as a present for Fathers Day 2014 - thanks Paul!

My Brief History recounts Hawking’s improbable journey, from his postwar London boyhood to his years of international acclaim and celebrity. It is indeed lightweight, coming in at 144 pages, and only took me a couple of days to read. But then again, when you can only elucidate around 3 words per minute via the electronic methods available to him, even a modest work such as this must have been a huge effort.

Lots of great photos from his earlier days and a good summary of his early life but then it starts to ramble into the latest cosmological theories and becomes a stage rather than an autobiography.

I also have his iconic book "A Brief History of Time", published in 1988 when he was obviously more capable of expressing himself in such a format. That was a great read, especially for someone like me with a Physics background.
